Fields of Mistria Zorel Guide

Learn how to unlock Zorel in Fields of Mistria 1.0, use Crystal Resonators and Song Crystals, customize farm and home music, and plan the Tesserae cost.

Zorel is one of the most important new Saturday Market vendors added in the full 1.0 release of Fields of Mistria. She is the game's dedicated music vendor, selling Crystal Resonators and Song Crystals that let you replace the background music heard around your farm and inside rooms of your home. If you played during Early Access and remember the Saturday Market without Zorel, that information is now outdated: Zorel and Stillwell officially joined the market with version 1.0.

This guide explains how Zorel fits into late-game town progression, what her two main item types do, how much money to save before shopping, and how to approach Song Crystal collecting without wasting Tesserae.

How to unlock Zorel

Zorel is not available at the beginning of a new save. She belongs to the later portion of the Town Repair and Saturday Market progression.

The key step is Expanding the Saturday Market, one of the late-game town projects. Once you have progressed far enough to complete the market expansion and its associated introduction content, Zorel can join the Saturday Market as its music-focused vendor.

If you are still working toward that point, use our Town Rank and Renown guide and Town Repair Questline guide first. Zorel is best treated as a late-game customization reward rather than something a new farmer needs to rush immediately.

After she is unlocked, check the Saturday Market on Saturday. Zorel's stall is part of the expanded market lineup alongside Stillwell. Stillwell focuses on fortunes and Mission Board quests, while Zorel's inventory revolves around music customization.

What does Zorel sell?

NPC Studio's 1.0 notes identify two core categories in Zorel's inventory:

  • Crystal Resonators
  • Song Crystals

These items work together. A Crystal Resonator provides the object used for music customization, while Song Crystals expand the music that can be selected through the resonator system.

Current 1.0 shop data lists Crystal Resonators in multiple colors, making the object useful as both a functional music controller and a piece of furniture that can match a room or farm design. Current shop references list the resonators at 20,000 Tesserae each.

Song Crystals are considerably cheaper individually but become expensive if you want a large music library. Current Saturday Market data lists Song Crystals at 5,000 Tesserae each.

ItemCurrent listed priceMain purpose
Crystal Resonator20,000tPlaceable music customization object
Song Crystal5,000tUnlocks a song for the resonator system

Because Zorel is a late-game vendor, these prices make more sense when viewed as optional customization spending. You do not need to buy every song immediately to continue the story.

How Song Crystals work

A Song Crystal unlocks a specific music track for use with your Crystal Resonators. NPC Studio specifically describes the system as allowing players to customize music on the farm and in rooms of the home.

The official 1.0 patch notes also say that 10 new songs were added via Song Crystals. The broader current Almanac contains more Song Crystal entries because the purchasable music system can include character themes and other tracks beyond only the newly composed songs introduced in 1.0.

Current Almanac data lists 22 Song Crystal entries. Examples include character themes for Adeline, Balor, Caldarus, Celine, Eiland, Hayden, Juniper, March, Reina, Ryis, Seridia and Valen, along with tracks such as Another Tower, Crystal Caves, Dream Lobby, Farm Boy, Five More Minutes, Hero's Journey, Misty Pasture, Pink Twintails, Purple Potions and Rainy Window.

That distinction is useful when reading patch notes: “10 new songs” does not necessarily mean Zorel's entire shop system contains only ten Song Crystals.

Best way to spend Tesserae at Zorel's stall

Do not approach Zorel like a progression vendor where every purchase is mandatory. Her inventory is primarily about personalization.

A good first purchase is one Crystal Resonator for the area where you spend the most time. If you enjoy decorating your farmhouse, put it in a frequently used room. If you spend more time farming, begin with music customization around the farm.

Then buy Song Crystals selectively. Character themes are especially sensible purchases if you already have a favorite villager or romance candidate. For example, players following our romanceable characters guide may prefer to buy the theme associated with their chosen candidate rather than collecting the catalog in arbitrary order.

At 5,000t per Song Crystal, buying many tracks in one visit can consume a substantial amount of cash. Keep enough Tesserae available for farm upgrades, seeds, animals, crafting materials and other progression purchases before turning music collecting into a completion goal.

Zorel and the Saturday Market

Zorel is part of a much larger 1.0 expansion to the Saturday Market. This is why an older Early Access guide can correctly describe the original market but still fail to mention her.

Once your town progression reaches the expanded market stage, Saturdays become more valuable. You can combine several errands into one trip: check Zorel's music inventory, visit Stillwell and his Mission Board, and shop from the other rotating or permanent market vendors.

If Stillwell is also new to your save, see our Stillwell and Mission Board guide. His missions can contribute Renown toward the endgame Town Rank climb, while Zorel gives you a place to spend money on customization after much of the essential infrastructure is already built.

Song Crystals and the Bell Tower

Music customization also connects thematically with the late Town Repair progression. Version 1.0 added the Repair the Bell Tower quest as part of completing the Town Repair Questline. If you are still unlocking late-game town projects, finish the progression described in our Town Repair guide rather than assuming Zorel alone unlocks every music-related feature in town.

The important distinction is that Zorel is the vendor for Crystal Resonators and Song Crystals, while town projects determine which locations and late-game systems your save has opened. Keeping those two progression tracks separate makes troubleshooting much easier.

Zorel not appearing? Check these things

If you cannot find Zorel, work through the following checks before assuming the game is bugged:

  1. Update the game. Zorel is full-release content and was not part of the original Early Access market lineup.
  2. Check your Town Repair progression. If Expanding the Saturday Market is still unfinished, continue the late-game quest chain.
  3. Visit on Saturday. Zorel is a Saturday Market vendor, not a normal seven-day shopkeeper.
  4. Finish relevant introduction quests or scenes. If the market has just changed, clear any new quest steps and revisit it on the next valid market day.
  5. Check your cash before planning a shopping spree. A resonator plus several songs can quickly cost tens of thousands of Tesserae.

If your broader late-game progression also appears stuck, the Fields of Mistria 1.0 guide summarizes the major full-release systems, while the map and locations guide can help with Saturday Market and town navigation.

Is Zorel required for 100% completion?

Zorel is highly relevant to players who want to collect music and explore all of the 1.0 customization systems, but her catalog should not be confused with core survival or farming progression. You can continue farming, relationships, Mines exploration and most other systems without immediately buying her entire inventory.

Completion-focused players should treat Song Crystals as a long-term money sink. The current Almanac tracks Song Crystals as their own collectible section, so players pursuing a filled-out Almanac have a stronger reason to buy the catalog over time.

That makes Zorel particularly useful after your economy becomes comfortable. By late game, profitable crops, ranching, shipping and other activities can generate enough Tesserae that cosmetic and collection goals become easier to fund.
