Stillwell is one of the most useful late-game additions in Fields of Mistria 1.0. He joins the Saturday Market alongside Zorel and introduces a new Mission Board built around monster-slaying challenges. Those missions are especially valuable if you are pushing toward the new Renown cap of 100: each current Mission Quest awards 100 Renown plus a recipe from the Monster Set furniture collection.
Stillwell is not available from the beginning of a save. He belongs to the late Town Repair progression, so players returning from Early Access may need to complete several Town Rank objectives before they ever see his stall. Once unlocked, however, his Saturday routine gives you a reliable reason to revisit earlier and later Mines biomes instead of treating completed floors as obsolete content.
How to unlock Stillwell
Stillwell becomes available after you complete Expanding the Saturday Market. This late-game Story Quest requires you to have completed the Carpenter's Shop upgrade and reached Town Rank Level 80. The expansion asks for a substantial collection of late-game materials, including Voidite, Refined Stone, Mistril Ingots, Monster Cores, and Monster Blocks.
After the market expansion is finished, Stillwell and Zorel begin appearing at the Saturday Market. You will also receive the follow-up Meet the New Vendors quest, which asks you to speak with both newcomers and then return to Nora.
If Stillwell is missing, check these steps in order:
- Reach Town Rank Level 80.
- Complete the required Carpenter's Shop progression.
- Finish Expanding the Saturday Market.
- Visit the Saturday Market on Saturday.
- Complete Meet the New Vendors as you continue the Town Repair storyline.
For the complete late-game town sequence, see our Town Repair Questline guide and Town Rank and Renown guide.
Where is Stillwell's Mission Board?
Stillwell appears at the upgraded Saturday Market. His stall is unusual because he is not primarily an item merchant. The important object is the Mission Board beside his stall, which becomes accessible once Stillwell has been unlocked.
NPC Studio specifically introduced this system in version 1.0: unlocking Stillwell grants access to Mission Quests from his Mission Board at the Saturday Market. These are separate from ordinary Request Board jobs and are designed as a late-game combat progression track.
The missions focus on monsters found throughout the Mines. That makes the board a good companion system for players who have already completed the main Mines storyline but still want a reason to revisit its different biomes.
If you have not yet progressed deeply through the Mines, start with our Mines unlock guide and Fields of Mistria map guide.
How Stillwell's Mission Quests work
The current 1.0 Mission Quest chain contains 12 challenges. They must be completed in order, so you cannot simply choose whichever monster or reward is most convenient.
The first missions demonstrate the structure clearly. Green Sapling Surprise sends you to defeat 20 Green Saplings in the Upper Mines and rewards 100 Renown plus the Sapling Beanbag Chair recipe. Rock Clod Catastrophe follows with 20 Rock Clods. Mushroom Madness then sends you into the Tide Caverns to defeat 20 Green Mushrooms and rewards the Mushroom Sofa recipe. Later challenges continue moving through the Mines' monster roster and deeper biomes.
This sequential design means the Mission Board is best treated as a long-term checklist rather than a random weekly bounty board. Talk to Stillwell when you need a reminder: his dialogue provides clues about the monster he wants defeated and where to find it.
Mission Quest rewards
The reward structure is unusually consistent:
| Reward | What you get |
|---|---|
| Renown | 100 Renown per Mission Quest |
| Furniture | A Monster Set furniture recipe tied to the target monster |
| Progression | Access to the next mission in Stillwell's sequence |
Completing all 12 current missions therefore represents a substantial 1,200 Renown from the chain itself. That makes Stillwell one of the most useful late-game systems when you are working toward the Mistril Town Rank at Level 100.
Do not confuse the Mission Board with Crown Requests. Both can help with late-game Renown, but they are different systems with different unlock conditions and objectives. A strong Level 80–100 routine is to keep Stillwell's current monster objective active while continuing Museum donations, shipping, Crown Requests, Story Quests, and ordinary requests.
Best way to complete Stillwell missions
Before entering the Mines, open your quest log and confirm the exact monster name and quantity. Then travel directly to the biome associated with that monster rather than starting from Floor 1 every time.
The early missions send you back through familiar areas such as the Upper Mines and Tide Caverns. Later targets make deeper progression more relevant. Bring food or syrups if you plan to stay underground for a full day, especially when your target shares floors with monsters that can interrupt mining or movement.
You do not need to turn every run into a resource-clearing expedition. If your immediate goal is Renown, prioritize rooms where the target monster appears, defeat it, and move on. Conversely, if you still need ores, artifacts, monster drops, or Museum pieces, Stillwell's missions are a good excuse to combine those goals in one trip.
Players working through the Ancient Ruins should also keep our Floor 90 puzzle guide handy. Stillwell's system is late-game content, but it is separate from the Mines' story gates and puzzles.
Stillwell's fortunes
The Mission Board is only half of Stillwell's role. At his Saturday Market stall, Stillwell also offers fortunes for 100 Tesserae.
You can choose among three themes:
- Money
- Friendship
- Love
These readings fit Stillwell's fortune-teller character and provide extra Saturday dialogue outside the mission chain. They should not be confused with Mission Quest rewards: paying for a fortune does not replace accepting or completing a monster mission.
If you are short on Tesserae, prioritize your progression purchases first. The Mission Board itself is the more important system for players specifically trying to raise Renown or collect Monster Set furniture recipes.
Why Stillwell quests may not track correctly
Stillwell launched with a significant quest-tracking problem. NPC Studio addressed it in patch v1.0.4 on August 19, 2026.
That patch fixed two Mission Quest issues:
- Stillwell's quests now correctly track defeated monsters.
- Monster names now display correctly in his quest objectives instead of appearing incorrectly or as missing text.
If you are playing an older 1.0 build and your monster counter appears stuck, update the game before assuming you are killing the wrong enemy. This is particularly important for guides or videos recorded immediately after the August 5 launch, because their troubleshooting advice may describe bugs that have already been fixed.
After updating, verify the active mission in the Journal, make sure you are defeating the named monster rather than a visually similar enemy, and confirm that you are in the appropriate Mines biome.
Stillwell and the Level 100 Renown grind
Version 1.0 raised the Town Renown cap to 100 and added the Mistril Town Rank Event. Stillwell's Mission Board slots neatly into that final progression stretch.
If you unlock Stillwell around the Level 80 portion of the Town Repair storyline, do not wait until Level 99 to begin his missions. Start the chain as soon as it becomes available. The Renown from the missions can work alongside the late-game Town Repair objectives that eventually lead through Repair the Bell Tower and toward Mistril Rank.
A practical late-game loop is:
- Check Stillwell at the Saturday Market.
- Keep his current Mission Quest active.
- Complete Crown Requests and ordinary quests when their objectives overlap with your normal farm routine.
- Donate missing Museum items rather than selling the first copy.
- Ship profitable farm products for additional Renown.
- Continue the Town Repair storyline whenever the next rank gate opens.
For a broader checklist of full-release progression, see the Fields of Mistria 1.0 guide and Museum completion guide.
